Saturday Tradewinds Report

6-27-2020
Noelie Achen ( Vice President )

Interesting day out on the pond today with a questionable weather forecast but except for a burst of wind for about a half hour around the noon hour the ocean was really nice today.

We had boats out on bottom fishing trips plus crabbing as well as boats on Salmon trips.  First the bottom fishing.  It was quite slow today as even around mid-afternoon no one was able to get many of the rockfish to bite.  Probably because of the cold water we had down around 49-degrees due to northerly winds the past four days.  The good news if any was the Lingcod bite.  All of the boats had really good Lingcod counts today as it would be normal with a really slow rockfish bite that the Lingcod were getting all of the chances out there.  Some really nice specimens brought to the filet table today.  The Kimberly Ann on the 2nd half of a combo salmon/bottom fishing trip caught a 43-inch Halibut in 50-feet of water.  Take a look at this picture.

The Salmon bite was slow with only one Coho salmon caught but there were a bunch of Spring Chinooks caught as Mr Max displays three of them brought back. Hopefully the Coho’s will begin to arrive soon.
